The operation of a volumetric dosing machine
A volumetric doser is a packaging machine designed for manual, semi-automatic or automatic filling of products. These machines are present in many sectors: food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, chemical.
The volumetric dosing machine allows to define the perfect quantity of product to deliver according to its volume. Products can be liquid, viscous, creamy or powder. Volumetric dosing systems are simple to operate. The raw product is conveyed and fed automatically (conveyor system) or manually into a storage volume.
The desired quantity of product to dispense is indicated by the user on the machine’s dashboard. The value is set according to the type of packaging and its volume (ml, L, m3). The equipment will automatically determine the corresponding volume of product to be poured. Depending on the machines, it is possible to define a more or less small margin of error compared to the targeted volume.
Filling is achieved using the filling system of the machine. Filling can be done using pistons, worms, compression gas, or using pumps and flow meters. The product is inserted through the spout(s) of the equipment. The assembly can be composed of one or more filling heads.
Manual filler and doser
The product is stored on the upper part of the machine. It is released in the desired volume every time the user places an order. This can be done by pressing a button, trigger or foot pedal. In particular, these machines allow the filling head to be attached to a gun providing greater mobility.
Semi-automatic filling and dosing machine
The machine releases the defined product volume sequentially at predefined time intervals. This is referred to as a time-delayed machine. The packaging is inserted and removed manually.
Automatic filling and dosing machine
Empty packages are automatically conveyed to the dosing / filling station. The product is poured when the container is detected. Detection is carried out by push/push effect, weight detection or laser sensor. The package is discharged when the filling is finished. Filling can be achieved on rotary or linear fillers.
Buy and sell a volumetric filling machine
Buying a second-hand machine remains a high investment for some companies. Prices vary depending on the condition, make, location and year of manufacture of the machine.
