A strapping machine is a packaging solution used at the end of a production line. They allow to wrap packages with polypropylene strap, also called plastic strap. It provides security and consolidation of a load.
These machines are used in the packaging sector for all kinds of products such as cartons, batches, boxes. Strapping is usually the last step before the palletising phase. However, it can be used to strap a pallet directly.
The strap is placed manually, semi-automatically or automatically around the packaging.
The strap is manually positioned around the product. It is then stretched manually using a strapping tool: strap tensioner or an electric strapping tool. For the latter, the strap is applied through a loop or a crimping cap. An electric strapping tool performs friction welding.
The user first wraps the strap around the package manually. The strapping table will then tighten, seal and cut it automatically.
The strip automatically wraps around the load through the arch of the machine. Tensioning, welding and cutting are performed automatically.
Triggering modes: fixed pedal / foot pedal – button – detection cell / contactor.
The packaging can be fed manually or through a conveyor system. These fast and easy to use machines consume little material and can be adapted to many formats.
Buying a second-hand strapping machine remains a high investment for some companies. Prices vary depending on the condition, brand, location and year of manufacture of the machine.
